Looking to join like-minded beer fans on a walking tour of the Ouseburn? Free Tours By Foot is Newcastle’s first pay-what-you-like brewery tour!
We all know how great the Ouseburn is for its eclectic range of pubs, but did you know it’s also a haven for independent breweries, too? If you’d like to explore a range of breweries, from micro to bigger venues showcasing the latest brewing technology, Martin Ellis has it covered in a brand new walking tour. You’ll get to see where the beer is made, meet the people behind the scenes, and learn about the fascinating beer culture of the Ouseburn area.
During the tour, you’ll stroll around the Ouseburn to learn more about the area and the breweries, and also have the opportunity to drink a wide range of beers from five different venues. The tour features stops at Brinkburn St., Full Circle, Northern Alchemy, Out There and Tyne Bank.
Leading the excursion is Martin Ellis, who is no stranger to the beer scene in the North East (especially as he lives, works and drinks in the Ouseburn!). Martin is an active CAMRA member, who has spent nearly 30 years on the national committee, (including helping to organise the Newcastle Beer Festival), and writes about beer for national and local publications.

The next Free Tours By Foot tour takes place on Friday 18th March at 2pm, and covers around 1.5 miles in three hours. At the end of the tour, you can decide what you choose to pay for it. As always, please make sure you dress for the unpredictable North East weather. And don’t forget a decent pair of shoes to keep you comfortable on the day. Beers are not included in the tour. Private tours are also available on request.
