Our Values
Community First
Beer’s always been about bringing people together, and that’s a big part of what Craft Beer Newcastle is about, too. We love sharing news of grassroots events, collabs, home brew club meet-ups, and anything that helps the North East beer scene to grow. Craft Beer Newcastle has stayed ad-free and sponsor-free since we launched 10 years ago, and is run as a social enterprise, with our time donated for free. We’ve sponsored charity beer festivals, run pop-up bars where the North East is underrepresented, and raised over £2,000 for Newcastle food banks along the way.
Promoting Inclusivity
Our blog is a community space and our social events are open to everyone who loves good beer and meeting new people. We highlight the breweries and venues doing genuinely positive work, and we try not to amplify those who use PR spin and marketing to try to distract from poor practices. Our goal is to help make the craft beer world more welcoming, honest, and fair, and to celebrate the people who are pushing things in the right direction.
Independence Matters
Independent breweries and venues are what make the North East beer scene unique. We want to prioritise the businesses that put community first, care about quality, and stick to their values. There are plenty of big companies with big budgets trying to dominate the scene and make every pub feel the same — we want to see more love for local beers and a better variety of guest beers. We’re here to celebrate them and help people visiting our region to find the places that really matter.
