James Clay and Sons will continue a three-decade-long partnership with the Schneider brewing family that has seen the company exclusively import from Schneider Weisse Brewery to now include beers from the new Schneider’s Landbrauerei brewery, starting with Schneider’s Bayrisch Hell, a 4.9% pale-gold Bavarian Helles.
THE BEER
Schneider’s Bayrisch Hell is described in Bavaria as a Landbier – a beer that characterises the people and ingredients of the region. Schneider Bayrisch Hell produced at Schneider’s Landbrauerei has ingredients coming from a very short distance from the brewery utilising established relationships directly between the brewery and local farmers.
Braumeister Hans-Peter Drexler described the new brewery as “Hohe Heimatverbundenheit” loosely translated in English as a feeling of close ties to one’s native area. He went on to say “We brew exclusively with ingredients from the nearby farmers. This means short transportation, lower emissions and a focus on sustainability. We can rely on the high quality of our raw materials because of the regular contact with our farmers. The quality of our beer is already decided in their fields.”
THE PARTNERSHIP
The relationship between James Clay and Sons and the Schneider family dates back to 1993 when the partnership was established.
Schneider’s Braumeister Hans-Peter Drexler comments on this long-established relationship between the two family-run businesses as a “‘Handschlagsmentalität” or ‘a handshake mentality, when dealing with James Clay and Sons, their spoken word counts, and we know we can rely on each other’. Now in the 6th generation of Schneider family ownership and management under Georg Schneider VI (and George VII already involved in the business), their position as a keystone of Bavarian brewing history is unquestionable.
Schneider’s Bayrisch Hell is available in 500ml bottles and will be permanently available in the James Clay and Sons core range. Kegs will follow in the spring, too.
