What’s On: October 2018

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness…autumn is our favourite time of the year. Especially so in the North East beer scene, as you can see from our pick of the top five things to do in the region this month. Read on, dear beer fans…

The Old Coal Yard

The Old Coal Yard and Goodtimes Tacos

Friday 12th October – Sunday 14th October | The Old Coal Yard

The new brewery from Northern Alchemy opens on Friday 12th October, and they’ve got a whole weekend of celebrations to entice you in (as if you needed an excuse!). With the wonderful Meat Salt Smoke providing local charcuterie to complement the beers, this place is definitely going on to our ‘must visit’ list. Give them a follow on Facebook to keep up to date with their upcoming plans.

Liverpool’s Mad Hatter Brewing Co. are taking over the taps at The Town Mouse Ale House during Craft Beer Calling weekend – if you’ve not checked their beers out yet, you really need to stop by…from Tzatziki Sour to Penny Lane Pale, they’re making some amazing beers definitely worth seeking out (we couldn’t get enough of their Scouse Sour at Leeds International Beer Festival this year!).

The main event in the North East craft beer calendar for 2018, Craft Beer Calling is a fantastic place to sample beers from across the UK and beyond (and chat to the brewery teams, too!). Curated by Wylam Brewery and New Wave Distribution, expect to see the likes of Odyssey Brew Co., Verdant Brewing Co., Cloudwater, North Brewing Co., plus local representation from Almasty Brewing Co., Box Social Brewing, Northern Alchemy, and of course, Wylam!

Anarchy Brew Co. Tap Room

Anarchy Brew Co. moves to Newcastle

Saturday 27th October | Anarchy Brew Co.

Morpeth’s loss is most definitely Newcastle’s gain, as Anarchy Brew Co. has found its new home in NE6, next to Walkergate metro station. We’ve been lucky enough to keep checking in on the progress, and the space is incredible! If you’ve ever been to one of the Beer Bashes in the past, you’ll know that Simon, Dawn, and the team know how to throw a party, so you definitely don’t want to miss out on helping to christen the new brewery.

Join the Facebook event to find more info about the launch party here.
